I took a close view of my average 24 hours last week. I couldn't get moving on my "8 Life Goals" without knowing where every hour goes. It was eye opening to say the least. It showed me where I spend my time and how little of it I spend with my family.
Here is the breakdown...
24 HOURS.
I GIVE MYSELF 5 HOURS TO SLEEP.
19 HOURS LEFT.
I WORK A FULL-TIME SALARY JOB. THAT'S 10 HOURS A DAY.
9 HOURS LEFT.
YEP, THAT FAST!
I DRIVE FOR 1 HOUR A DAY (TRIPS TO WORK AND ERRANDS)
8 HOURS LEFT.
1 HOUR TO GET MY DAY GOING AND GET READY FOR WORK.
7 HOURS LEFT.
1 1/2 HOUR AT THE GYM FOR THE "HEALTHY" BODY ;-)
5.5 HOURS LEFT.
I noticed that with our schedule. We spend 7pm-9:30p as a family. 2.5 HOURS.
3 HOURS LEFT.
I USUALLY PRAY/REFLECT MORNING AND NIGHT FOR A TOTAL OF 1 HOUR.
2 HOURS LEFT.
THESE 2 HOURS ARE TO WORK ON MY DREAMS.
YEAH. I get 2 hours to work on my dreams daily. That life goal I have of "Doing what I love full-time" is a little far fetched right now but nonetheless possible. Always. This breakdown makes me responsible to take diligent and focused action during those 2 hours to make them count. There are some days off from my full-time job where I get 10 extra hours. That's once or twice a week, it all depends on my weekend schedule at work. I don't do any dream work on Sunday. I only "do work" on Sundays if my full-time job requires it. Sunday is the Lord's day. Family day.
REALITY CHECK... WHAT A YEAR LOOKS LIKE...
I SPEND 2,440 HOURS AT MY FULL-TIME JOB. (I SUBTRACTED VACAY)
I SLEEP 1,825 HOURS
I SPEND 1,690 HOURS WITH MY FAMILY. (INCLUDED 10 HOURS ON MY OFF DAYS)
I SPEND 626 HOURS WORKING ON DREAMS.
I SPEND 365 HOURS GETTING READY (HAHAHAHA)
I SPEND 365 HOURS DRIVING (DOES NOT INCLUDE OUT OF TOWN TRIPS)
I SPEND 234 HOURS AT THE GYM
This is eye opening. It's the reason I am creating a schedule that makes every minute of life count. I have to be diligent and I need to have a steadfast spirit. God wants me to do his work and I need to make sure I do it.
Every minute is valuable and I thank you for taking a couple of minutes to read this. I hope it helps you or someone you know. :-D
Happy Oscar
